02.04.2013
Happy Monday, my beautiful Budgetnistas! Yesterday was the Super Bowl and for the first time in YEARS, I was more excited about halftime than the game itself. Even though I've loved the game since before I could walk, this year Beyonce was by far the highlight of last night's Super Bowl for me! She's my celebrity look for less today simple because she SLAYED (in a good way) last night! She looked absolutely amazing in her custom made leather and lace bodysuit/skirt ensemble, knee highs and Proenza Booties.... Bold, Empowered and Sexy!  If you dare be as bold as Mrs. Carter to want to take on a look of the magnitude, I've found great options to re-create Beyonce's halftime look for way less. Totaling only $121.56! Get Beyonce's halftime performance look for less

01.18.2013
Happy Friday My Beautiful Budgetnistas! While I was getting my daily fashion blog fix yesterday, I stumbled across this photo of Kim Kardashian on Fashion Bomb Daily.... Clearly her Givenchy Checkered Booties were the highlight of this ensemble! They took her entire look to the next level in my opinion and since The Anne Hathaway Look For Less on Monday already featured a black suit, I figured I would just cut to the chase. Claire didn't mention how much these babies were, but being from the Givenchy Resort 2013 Collection, I'm pretty sure they're out of my budget.... I found a very comparable houndstooth pair from BeBe for 104.95! Check em' out below

Anne Hathaway kept it classic with a twist in this all black number last week. Indeed a menswear look with just enough feminity to make it somewhat sexy even! The ensemble compliments her edgy haircut and in my opinion and great way to look lovely while layered on a cooler day. Getting over my all black everything "All Black Everything" obsession in 2013 is going to be a lot harder than I thought because the second I spotted this pic, I couldn't resist finding this look for less! This is absolutely something I can see me in. If you too want to accomplish Anne's look for less, I've great options to get this entire look for only $210.76. Get it here

KamaliKulture Collection Review

Picture

01.14.2013
I'm usually up on all things budget fashion but for some reason, Norma Kamali's affordable line 'KamaliKulture Collection' was under my radar. Maybe because as an adolescent I only pictured myself wearing Norma Kamali when I was a woman of a "particular age and well off". My grandmother had a few Norma Kamali pieces and maybe that's why I had those thought?!? At any rate, while stopping by the Wendy Williams Show last week, Norma graced viewers with a "lil taste" of what her more affordable line had to offer and from the looks of it , It's not much different than her higher end line.... In fact, KamaliKulture has a ton of timeless, sophisticated, flattering pieces for women of all ages and most sizes. This affordable lines a something for everyone. Prints, great silhouettes, classic and bold color choices... dresses, suits, tops, pants, shoes and even eye wear One thing that I love about Norma Kamali is that she's always had what her female customer want in mind. She knows how to make us feel, confident, flirty, feminine, powerful and most of all comfortable. We can definitely get multiple wears for many different occasions and everything is under $100!! 01.11.2013
Happy Friday My Fellow Budgetnistas! I stumbled up this Sweater Sleeved Denim Jacket project on Studs and Pearls the other day and I swear it was like fate led me there at the perfect time. I purchased a denim vest from Forever 21 a few years back and have only worn it once. I recently wanted to find a cool way to up cycle it... With it being winter and all, I figured this Sweater Sleeved Denim Jacket would serve another outerwear option to stay warm and give me reason to dust off my Singer. Anywho, this the Fly DIY feature of the week and if you don't have anything planned this weekend , how about you give this project a try! Learn How To Make Your Own Sweater Sleeved Denim Jacket

01.09.2013
Happy Wednesday My Loves! I spotted this pic of Jessica Chastain sometime last week and couldn't get it out of my head. Her violet trench and bronze mary janes had alot to do with it. Just these two pieces played a huge role in bringing her denim and tee to life! Subtle and memorable... I had a feeling this look cost a lot but I just had to get the price points (hey, maybe I'm a glutton for punishment). I found out from CelebStyle.com that her Burberry London Boysenberry Technical Cotton-Blend Queensbury Trench Coat retail for $1,335, her Linda farrow luxe Hibiscus Oversized Sunglasses retail for $526, her Alexander McQueen tote bag is $2,259 and her Prada Mary Janes retail for $495. These select pieces total a whopping $4,615!!
It would more than put a dent in my wallet, so the hunt was on, and lucky for us I found her entire look for less than $200, $193.39 to be exact! Get Jessica's Look For Less

Splurge or Save: Chloé Studded Leather Buckle Ankle Boots

Picture
Image via www.fashionbombdaily.com
01.04.2013
Unbeknownst to most, leather buckle ankle boots were popular long before 2012 when we spotted so many celebrities with a pair. The king of pop Michael Jackson actually wore som in his 'Bad' video back in 1987. I'll never forget them, because at 7 yrs old I asked my mother for a pair of my own lol. I wanted his entire ensemble, because it was oh so bad ass! My mother said no, I cried and got over it.... until now! I'm positive anyone setting foot in a pair of these leather buckle boots feels just as rocker-chic, edgy and bad ass as I envisioned myself feeling as an adolescent. My lust for these boots dates back to the early 90's and as much as I was thrilled to see that they've re-surfaced I wasn't thrilled about the price tag most of them had.... I've had the red pair of studded leather buckle ankle boots from Chloe on my radar for months now but they cost a whopping $1,345. There's no way I can part ways with that type of money so, the hunt was on. I've found a pair that will take care of my "bad ass" boot needs, and save me $1,305.20! Yes! Forever 21 has a comparable pair for only $39.80. Now that's the way you save!

Foodie Chronicles: My Golden Oreo Truffles

Picture

01.04.2013
In a perfect world, there would be no such thing as calories, fluctuating waist lines or wrestling matches with our jeans. You see, I''m a foodie, more like a sweetie, a person that would and could eat sweets for every single meal. I ate very unhealthy and started not feeling so good about myself. I knew I had to stop! I've been on a journey to live a healthier life for about 1 1/2 years now and the only reason I've survive it, is because I allow myself one cheat day a week. Anything goes. I eat without an ounce of guilt every Friday and usually bake something I've seen on one of my favorite cooking shows or food blogs. It was love at first site when I spotted this recipe on Sally's Baking Addiction and I was shocked. I'm not a chocolate oreo lover, so why did a picture of this golden oreo truffle have me salivating? I didn't know and didn't question it, the heart want what the heart wants lol. I followed Sally's recipe to a tee and the results were heavenly. 3 ingredients, no baking, hard shell an melt in your mouth center. It's bound to be a hit at home or a get together.... One of my favorite cheat days thus far! Thanks Sally :) Get the recipe here

01.02.2013
HAPPY NEW YEAR My Loves!!! Today's Celebrity Look For Less is totally reflective of one of my fashion goals for 2013. No, I'm not going to wear gold all year round but I am going to be a lil more welcoming to colors other than my go to option black in my ensemble. There was a ton of celebrity looks from New Years Eve but Nicki's look was my absolute fave. Flirty, Feminine and Bold (all aspects I've vowed to add to my closet this year) with her shimmering dress, glittering pumps and wig to match, she just looked AMAZING in my opinion can be worn all year round! Her dress is Herve Leger and her pumps are Christian Louboutin, totally.... too expensive for my pockets! I've re-created Nicki's New Years Eve Look For WAY Less. Get it here

Fly DIY Nails: Gold Leaf Manicure

This Gold Leaf Manicure DIY from Stripes and Sequins was a no brainer when it came down to picking a HOT manicure that would work perfectly with today's look for less. I've actually tried this on my own nails and a lot of people thought it was a minx manicure. They were even more intrigued when I told them it was gold leaf and was less than five dollars to do. I'm not sure about you, but I'd rather do this gold leaf manicure than spending $50 at the salon for a minx manicure. It's totally worth giving this a try. Celebrity Look For Less: Khloe Kardashian

12.21.2012
Happy Friday My Loves! I didn't plan on posting anything today because things always get a little chaotic this close to Christmas but I couldn't have this Celebrity Look For Less wait throughout the weekend. This is what Mrs. Kardashian- Odom wore to host Night 1 season finale of X-Factor and I absolutely LIVE FOR THIS ENSEMBLE!!!! I LIVE HONEY! The classic black and white combo, neon pumps and mixture of textures just work so well. Sophistication and edginess is what I feel when looking at this photo. She's got minimal make-up on and you can tell she's super comfy. I love everything about it. WERK Khloe! I read on Fashion Bomb Daily that her Carolina Herrera Night Collection Double Georgette Embellished Blouse was $2,290, her leather pleated mini skirt is Alexander McQueen, and her neon orange pumps are Christian Louboutin and retail, $1,195. Translation, way to rich for my blood. Being the Bargain Huntress I am, I've obviously found Khloe's look for way way less. Get her look for only $116.06!

Look For Less: Kim Kardashian

12.19.2012
Kim Kardashian looked really good in this curve hugging number. I love that her white dress is knee length to keep this look sophisticated, age and daytime appropriate. A white dress and nude pump are a go-to option for any occasion. You don't have to much though into and you can pile on the accsssories or opt to wear none like Kim. Blank Canvas!!! I read on Fashion Bomb Daily that Kim's dress is Balenciaga and it set her back $1,485!... I found her entire look (pumps included) for only $94.70! Get Kim K's Look For Way Less Here

Holiday Trends For Under $50: Gold Sequins

Picture
12.19.2012
I'm positive that sequins will be a holiday trend forever.... Around this time of year, it's garaunteed you'll see glittery garments at almost every get-together, party and ect. Whether it be tops dresses, trousers, blazers, collars, skirts, anything goes when it comes to sequins. Gold sequins just looks so great on any skin tone and it doesn't take too much attention away from the rest of the pieces in your ensemble. Sequins is something I don't wear all that often (once a year), so I don't particularly want to overspend on this trend... and if you're like me, I found some great options for under 50....     Happy Monday Everyone! 2012 looks to have been a world wind of a year for Ms. Kerry Washington. Scandal is still a hit TV show being watched by millions each week (including myself) and the all the buzz and amazing reviews the movie 'Django Unchained' is getting, I figured she'll be my Celebrity Look For Less today. She's doing tons of press lately but I wanted to try something a lil' different than usual... As you can imagine, it was sooo difficult to decide on one look because she's just effortlessly stylish at all times but this look really gives me everything my fashion palette desires. Leather, Satin, Floral and Metal... Sophisticated, edgy, flirty, trendy and feminine..... Her style is timeless and I can't get enough of it! Holiday Look For Less: Sergio Rossi Velvet Pumps

12.17.2012
I mentioned resently that velvet is a material that in my opion is forever connected to the holidays and winter months. It can be dressed up or down with ease and can definitely change the look and feel of an ensemble. I LOVED these navy Sergio Rossi 120mm Uptown Velvet Pumps but surely wasn't as in love with the $650 price tag... Of course I looked for an option for us gals on a tighter budget and I found a great pair from House Of Harlow for only $150! I actually like this pair a little more than the Sergio Rossi's becuase of the detailing on the heel of

Happy Wednesday and 12.12.12 my Loves! So, Rihanna's 'Unapologetic' album has pretty much been on repeat for the past few weeks. I love how this album touches every emotion that most of us girls live with! Flirty, Braggadocios, Vulnerable, Distinguished and Confidence all appear on RihRih's latest LP and I quite enjoy it. I enjoy her music just as much as her style and what her stylist did with the oldest color combination in fashion history (black and white) is A-MAZING! The mix of textures really made all the difference. Classic, edgy, sophisticated..... TIMELESS. I've recreated this look for $183.79! Get this look for WAY Less

All Black Everything.... Well Almost

Picture
12.12.12
My 8 year old son took a few photos of me yesterday and boy, did he take full advantage of telling me what to do (how to pose, where to look and etc) for those 5 minutes lol. This is the one that he liked most and then said he had to work on being a better photographer.

Look For Less: Phillip Lim Leather Sweatpants

12.12.12
Leather pants don't always have to look "painted on" to bring that edge to a look. As you on today's Celebrity Look For Less, Rihanna's ensemble included a pair of relaxed leather trousers and she still looked super feminine, flirty and sophisticated... The trick is a high heel and a form fitted top! A few months ago I saw a photo of Kim Kardashian in a pair of  Celine leather sweats pants and needed a pair for myself... after some searching, I found a cute pair of 3.1 Phillip Lim Leather Sweatpants  for $1,350! OBVIOUSLY, that price is out of the question so I had to dig further. Luckily for us gals on a budget I found an Amazing pair for a FRACTION on that.... $174.99 to be exact! Check em' out below

Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely loving Taylor's style right now but Lily's ensemble is more my speed. The mustard color, leather and suede are some the textures and colors I think of most during the colder months.... I really enjoy everything about this look, the shades and amazing tote were bonus pieces because I'd still be just as inspired to recreate this look for less without them..... It can be dressed up and down, so you'd definitely get your money's worth.     Gold is my 'go to color for accessories... I'm usually wearing all black or other hues that are complimented by my gold accessories so I CLEARLY fell in love with the Tony Burch Gold Bow Belt when I first saw it. Not just because it was gold but since I'm not a uber girly girl, I love the structure of the bow on the belt. It's not dainty and soft. The contrasts made me want it... Not enough to spend $165! Celebrity Look For Less: Nicki Minaj

Picture
11.26.2012
Happy Monday my Loves! I'm Hoping you all had an AMAZING Thanksgiving? My holiday was pretty relaxing... I stay home while the rest of my family went to a relative's house... Since I'm a vegetarian who's eating a primarily raw food diet, I didn't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable while I ate my salad on "Turkey Day" lol... I watched some football and this Thanksgiving was pretty laid back... Not a "traditional" but I quite enjoyed myself. Since I'm such a great multi-tasker, while watching the Patriots beat the Jets (I'm a die hard Patriots fan), I decided to re-create Nicki Minaj's look when she was on Live With Kelly and Michael... This suit is the absolute opposite of what I'd ever be seen in but oddly enough, this pink suit is THE BUSINESS! She doesn't want to look like everyone else and I respect that and it's mission accomplished on her behalf because she rarely does... Nicki opted to tone down the look with a black floral blouse (the flowers were pink, of course). A not so traditional take on such a traditional fashion staple. Such an incredible mix of masculine and feminine and I wouldn't change a thing! If you too are fashion crushin' on a budget, I found some great options for us to get her look for only $166.95! Fly DIY: Pearl Round Sunglasses Inspired by Chanel and Rihanna

11.19.2012
Happy Monday My Loves! The second Rihanna hit the stage at the Victorias Secret Runway Show to perform, I knew her Vintage Chanel Pearl Round Sunglasses would be my next DIY project! I felt the materials would be fairly easy to find since I've seen them during my numerous visits to JoAnn and Party City... This project had to be done because I thought those shades are oh so sick (In a good way)! And of course, My budget won't allow me to spend $3,200 on them.... Yes, you read correctly and honestly, I've never spent more than twenty dollars on a pair of shades and I'm not going to start now! I'm no shade-nista and hence the name of the site, I try to save as much as possible lol. I found a way for us to have our own pearl round sunglasses for only $14... Learn how to make your own here

Celebrity Look For Less: Sarah Jessica Parker

Picture
photo via www.justjared.com
11.19.2012
She's Sarah Jessica Parker!!! I'm surprised I haven't featured her as a celebrity look for less until now? I think the reason is because lately, the only time she's snapped by paparazzi is when she's on mom duty and when SJP is handling mommy business, she doesn't do it in an unrealistic amount of make-up, six inch heels or snatched and tucked, she's looks like most of us mothers who know that it's damn near impossible to do our job all "dolled up"! When I spotted the pic of her on JustJared.com, I knew this was my opportunity to finally feature her and in my all time favorite color for fashion... Black! I live for an all black ensemble and she looked absolutely amazing! Her leather moto jacket and pleats prove the opposites do indeed attract! What's even more amazing is that this outfit would be flattering on a woman of any SIZE or SHAPE! If you too are fashion crushin' on a budget, I found her entire look for only $123....    I have such a fashion on Jessica Alba! She keeps it trendy but you truly tell that she has a lot to do the the clothes she wears. She owns every single look whether it be on a red carpet or running errands, she looks super comfortable in whatever she's in. She was photoed shopping last  in a pair of lace-up boots, cuffed boyfriend jeans, a fur vest on top of a sweater layered, over a basic tank. Love Layering!!! Everything works really well together and I re-created her entire look for only $179.36! Check it out here

Celebrity Look For Less: Kim Kardashian's Louboutin Lace Pumps

11.14.2012
We've seen Kim Kardashian in a ton of all black ensembles within the last few months. So, as good as she looks in this all black velvet jumpsuit, I was enthused about her lace pumps! They added and softer and feminine touch to a rather cozy comfortable winter look. A lil' bit of toe showing through lace is kinda sexy and that's what I like most! A gasp almost immediatelely followed my gushing when I spotted the red bottoms and I knew my mission was to definitely found a just as sexy but more financially friendly option for us gals on a budget... Instead of paying almost $900, get this pair below for only $98!

Celebrity Look For Less: Kristen Stewart

Picture

11.12.2012
Happy Monday My Loves! I feel like such a teenager the weeks leading up to the premier of a Twilight movie... I've seriously even considered purchasing a 'Team Jacob' tee shirt (yeah, it's like that lol)... I haven't really put much effort into finding out where to buy one yet but I'm sure it's a google search away. I already have my matinee' date set up for Saturday morning (no matter how excited I am about this movie, I still like saving money. Matinee is always cheaper) with one of my friends (who's Team Edward by the way) and brunch or lunch afterwards to discuss the last movie of the saga and just enjoy the rest of the day. To celebrate Breaking Dawn pt. 2 coming out this week, I figured I'd feature Kristen Stewart as today's Celebrity Look For Less. Kristen Stewart almost always looks AMAZING on red carpets and at events. She's not afraid to take chances with fashion or to let her SO-CAL laid back attitude shine through while doing so, with minimal make-up and hardly a curl in her hair. This look is really no different, she's trendy with the leather sheath dress and biker sandals (what biker wear heels while biking? They're hot none the less!)....  My love for leather ensembles is slowly becoming an obsession... I don't think I'll be getting tired of this trend anytime soon because it's just so bad-ass. I've found her look, for less of course totaling $199!! Check out the goodies I've found for us gals on a budget

Look For Less: Khloe Kardashian's Jimmy Choo Satin Pumps

Picture

11.12.2012
I have to admit, I don't watch X factor ( I'm of The Voice kinda girl).... but that doesn't I haven't seen all of the photos online. It's impossible because they're on damn every site I've gone on since Khloe Kardashian-Odom made her hosting debut along side the oh so sexy Mario Lopez a few weeks ago. I love that she's dressing to accentuate her curvy silhouette in such a sophisticated manner with a knee legnth hip huggin pencil skirt and loose long-sleeve wrap blouse. Overall, the two garments balance each other out well. I thoroughly enjoy her nude Jimmy Choo pumps. The satin material gives the shoe a completely different look. I didn't think "wedding" when I spotted these on Khloe, that's the first thing I would've thought when someone mentions a satin shoe and that's what I love most! The awesome thing about fashion.... It's rarely about what you're wearing and more so about how you're wearing it....Because my budget won't allow me to do Jimmy Choo, I found some great options for us gals on a budget. 11.09.2012
Happy Friday My Loves!!! I spotted this photo of Alessandra Ambrosio in this ensemble that's oh so fitting for the weather that will probably be soon coming to New York for the next few months. I think LOVE this look so much, I needed to re-create this look for less. I LIVE for an all black enesemble but spotting this photo on Just Jared during the northeastern we were having on Wednesday (it was freakin' freezing!) might have also helped me make decision as to who I'd feature as today's Celebrity Look For Less... Fur, Leather, Studs, Oh My!  and If you're thinking 'there's way too much going on", you're wrong! In this case it works really well because with all the different textures going on, this is still all black. I love that she chose to keep her make-up natural and didn't do much to her hair. It just works and I LOVE IT!!! If you too are fashion crushin' on a budget, Check out the goodies I found for us to re-create this look for less.

Fly DIY: Two Button Statement Earrings via Glitter n' Glue

Picture

11.09.2012
My personal style doesn't really scream elegance unless I'm going to a wedding or some snazzy event or etc... My big ol' curly mohawk really didn't permit much sophistication and I was totally okay with that but now that I no longer have such an ecclectic do, I'm looking for ways to add some elegance to my wardrobe. Since I'm a bit on the fence about this, I figured, I'd take baby steps and these earrings are just the project to help me with this adjustment! I immediately thought of Elizabeth Taylor when I spotted this photo on Glitter N' Glue and really surprised when a read that these, oh so glamorous earrings were actually buttons?!?! Yes my fellow budgetnistas, Buttons! This is a definitely a FLY DIY worth trying! Learn How To Make Your Own Pair

Budgetnista Buzz: Kardashian Kollection For UK Retailer Dorothy Perkins

Picture
photo via www.fashionbombdaily.com
11.09.2012
I'm kinda obligated to talk about when a budget friendly collection is available to us gals that prefer to be fabulous while frugal (this is a budget fashion site lol). After reading on The Fashion Bomb that the Kardashian Kollection for Dorothy Perkins was going to be on sale today, I can admit that my excitement was short lived because of how disappointed I was with the Kardashian Kollection for Sears a little more than a year ago. All of the pieces looked so AMAZING online but in were no where near what I expected as a consumer... I love saving money but I love great fashion way more! I feel the fabric, texture and look at details and treading of everything I buy so I can have an idea of how long the garment will last me and how I should care for it. Let's just say I wasn't as big fan of the collection walking out of Sears as I was walking in... I've checked out the look book of the Kollection for Dorothy Perkins they're form fitted dresses, blazers, blouses, pants, jackets, skirts and bags. According to The Fashion Bomb the retail price points are from $44 – $135... I do see a few pieces that I'd like to give a go but given that Dorothy Perkins is a UK retailer, I'd have to order online and wait in anticipation.... Check out The Kardashian Kollection for Dorothy Perkins look book via The Fashion Bomb and tell me what you gals thinks. Also if you purchase something from the collection, please tell me how you like it and if it's good quality.

Look For Less: Dolce & Gabbana Sheer Booties

11.02.2012
Happy Friday my fellow Budgetnistas! I've officially survived Hurricane Sandy and have power to post.... I felt like I was totally prepared with candles, all of my electronic devices charged, flashlights and food but I this week I realized just how much fashion and this blog help my day go by smoothly. When I was finally able to check out some of my favorite blogs and websites yesterday, I felt rejuvenated and renewed. While hopping from site to site, I spotted this photo of Rihanna in a pair of suede booties with sheer panels, a cute twist on the popular footwear trend for the cooler months. The sheer in this pair of booties will give an otherwise blah ensemble, life and I live for a shoe that has a "personality" of it's own. I NEEDED to know where I could find a pair and quickly said "never mind" when I read that they were Dolce & Gabbana. I obviously decided to find a pair that was almost identical in looks but had a better price point for us gals on a budget and we're in luck because I found this Jessica Simpson Greeta Suede Bootie with sheer panels. In my opinion a good look for less option! Enjoy the rest of your Friday :)

Don't Overspend On This Trend: Skater Dresses for $50 and Under

Picture

11.02.2012
There's something that many people don't know about me (not even most of my friends!).... I used to watch figure skating whenever I could.... I was kind of obsessed! The women were always so lady like and graceful while they danced and did tricks on the ice, with the exception of that one "thugged out" altercation between Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding (Remember that?who knew they were
so gangsta?).... I was always so excited to see what ensembles they'd perform in, the outfits were always my favorite part! I tried ice skating once YEARS ago and I couldn't stay on my feet for more than a few seconds at a time. Let's just say I didn't have the best time and even though my pro figure skating dreams were short lived, my love for the skater dress will never die! Fitted top short flared bottom. It's so sophisticated, flirty, dainty and lady-like. Put on you favorite pair of platform pumps, sandals or wedges and expose legs for day (flirty) or your loveliest loafers (sophisticated). That's how versatile the skater dress it! I honestly feel like this dress will be flattering on women of any size make sure it accentuates all of your favorite features. How ever you decide to wear your skater dress, make sure you absolutely comfortable.... That's what's most important! I've found AMAZING options for us Budgetnistas to enjoy this trend and not overspend... Check em out below

10.26.2012
Happy Friday my Loves! One of the many photos that surfaced online this week, is this one of the oh so soulful Chrisette Michele! She debuted her new single 'Charades' featuring 2 Chainz.... Ms. Michele is back and looking INCREDIBLE. I love that this pic is from the neck up because she always gives great face! The cut and color of her hair, the lip color and the show stopper for me were her Ted Lapidus Paris two tone shades! I've been searching for almost two days and to no avail... I couldn't even get any deets on the originals that Chrisette is wearing or where to find an inexpensive pair for us budgetnistas... So, I'll try my best to DIY these bad boys. Wish me luck!

After working and saving for MONTHS, at 17 years old, I was finally able to purchase my first Kate Spade New York bag! It was the signature striped bag. It was tiny but it was all mine! I wore that bag everyday even if it didn't match my ensemble! I made sure I got my money's worth and I did.... She's not only look gorge she carrying her Harper on her hip while doing so! She didn't accessorize a ton, just opted to through on a gold watch and some sunglasses. See that simple! I've found some goodies for us to re-create Victoria's look for only $118.95!     I read on Necole Bitchie that Keyshia Cole has teamed up with Steve Madden for a three shoe collection! Mrs. Gibson is known to have a MEAN shoe game and stated that before she was rich and famous, she too shopped for shoes at Steve Madden. Ms. Keyshia is as real as they come and truly loves her fans, so I'm sure she put tons of thoughts into and will produce the best for us gals on a budget! It's said that her collection will be available in November and from the looks of that pair that she wore on 106 & Park, I can't wait! I'll keep you posted if I get any more details

I've always wondered to who came up with the "no white after Labor Day" rule??? Why can't we? Anywho, I absolutely love that so many women are now ignoring this "fashion rule" and daring to wear the color whenever the hell they want!!! I myself, always tread lightly when it comes to wearing an all white ensemble because coincidentally, that's the day I make a mess by spilling something or brushing up against an object I'm not supposed to. I'll wear all white every once in a while but it's whenever I want! So, based on this mini vent about my fillings regarding the "no white after Labor Day" rule, you have an idea as to why I chose Kim Kardashian as my look for less. For one she's breaking the "rules" and two, she looks AMAZING while doing so! If you wanna break this fashion rule on a budget, I've found great options to get this look for only $125.87! I already have an ample amount of black polish to accomplish these Chanel Rain nails now all I'll need is a super steady hand and patience. I'll definitely be trying them out this weekend. Celebrity Look For Less: Taylor Swift

10.08.2012
Happy Monday my Loves! It's a start of a new work week and while perusing the net for my look for less inspiration, I was stopped in my tracks three clicks in! I spotted this photo of Taylor Swift in London on Just Jared and knew immediately that this was the look I'd feature. I can't help but to think every time I see a recent photo of Taylor,  how much she's grown. She loosened her curls or even opts for straighten tresses and appears to be so well put together overall! She's taken on such a distinguished, timeless and comfortable style. This look in particular is very Ralph Lauren-esc (the riding pants and rich colored plaid shirt) and who doesn't love a Ralph Lauren inspired look? The leather navy oxfords kept it very rustic and organic and they also assisted in keeping this look casual. She's not trying too hard to fit in with the rest of young Hollywood as far as fashion is concerned, she has a mind and style of her own and that's what I enjoy most about Ms. Taylor Swift! I've found some AMAZING options for us to create this look for way less, so have it and Check em' out

Celebrity Look For Less: Nicole Scherzinger

Nicole Scherzinger looks AMAZING in this Dolce & Gabbana Wool Blend Lace Dress!... A lace dress in my opinion is so sophisticated, sexy and timeless. She didn't wear tons of accessories or make-up because this ensemble didn't need any. Nicole opted to add some color with her red wine/ burgundy nails... A perfect option for a night out and not much fuss to find or put together! If your pockets/ pocketbooks aren't deep enough to spend $3,025 on this dress, I've found some great options for us to re-create this look for way less. Check em' out

With cooler temperatures in the near future, I started pulling out some of my fall and winter clothes from the storage bins. While doing so, I realized how many sweaters I own. That's one piece that I really don't need to purchase (thank goodness) but I'll admit, my sweaters may need a lil' "facelift". I was thankful that Geneva from one of my favorite Fashion DIY blogs, A Pair And A Spare posted this Sequin Elbow Patch Sweater project. That's just the up-cycle they need! Thanks Geneva!!!

Look For Less: Jessica Alba

photo via www.fashionbombdaily.com
10.03.2012
Happy Hump Day my Loves!!! I never can get enough of Jessica Alba's style. I always love what she's wearing even when it's considered dressing "down". I mostly love that she's not uber revealing at all times. She doesn't show much skin and when she does, it's always in such a tasteful way. She was recently photoed at the Environmental Media Awards wearing a Narciso Rodriguez suit, Giuseppe Zanotti pumps, and Jimmy Choo clutch. I couldn't find pricing "deets" for the look but based on the names alone, I'm sure this was too expensive for my pockets and budget! I've OBVIOUSLY found options for us to re-create this look for way less and I hope you find them helpful. So "have at it" if you're fashion crushin' on a budget

Fly DIY Beauty: Individual Eyelashes via Coloured Beautiful

10.03.2012
I'm always on the hunt for ways to save... and not just on fashion. I used to spend about $65 a month on eyelash extensions. I'd pay $45 on the full set in the beginning of each month and about $20 a few weeks later for a fill-in...  I decided I wanted to see exactly how much I was spending on indivual lashes and I almost fainted when I saw that the amount was $780 a year! At that very moment, I was determined to save! I did some digging on YouTube (because I learn how to do everything there lol) and thankfully, it wasn't for too long! Ebony from one of my favorite channels, Coloured Beautiful did a tutorial on how we can do our own individual lashes in the comfort of our own homes. A package of Ardell Duralash Naturals Individual Eye Lashes, Ardell LashTite Clear Eyelash Adhesive and patience is all you need. The lashes and glue total $10, so even if you have to buy a new pack of lashes and bottle of blue (highly unlikely), you'll still only be spending $120 a year!!!  If you follow Ebony's tutorial to a T, you'll be just as pleased with your lashes as I was! I hope you find this video helpful xoxoxo

Fall Trends For Under $50: Leather

Picture
photo via www.styleblazer.com
09.28.2012
With the weather cooling down, it's only fittinf to throw on a lil' leather. -And I'm not just talkin' about your "staple" leather jacket and gloves. I'm talkin' tops, pants, dresses, skirts, shorts and blazers... Such a badass material but can be paired well with virtually any fabric. An all leather ensemble serves as a great outfit option for the "bolder budgetnista" in the colder months to come. Leather just screams confidence, powerful and sexy! If you're not ready for an all leather outfit option, mix and match your leather pieces with other fabrics. If you're still unsure about how you feel about this trend, pair your leather with another garment that you feel the most comfy and confident in. Whether you're a leather lover or first-timer, I've found some great options for us to enjoy this trend and not over spend! Check em' out below

Today's Fly DIY feature was a no brainer, after seeing this project on one of my favorite blogs, Glitter N' Glue a few days ago. I, like Kristen have been obsessing over crest tuxedo flats for a while. I saw a picture of Rita Ora on The Fashion Bomb Daily with a Christian Louboutin pair a while back and knew, I NEEDED them. But I, like Kristen don't have YSL or Louboutin money for a pair of flats, so I was extadic when I saw that she found a very quick and easy way for us all to have our own pair of Bullion Tuxedo Loafers!     Extremely late post I know... I've been doing some running around today but I just couldn't keep this fashion treat to myself until Friday. It would be damn near criminal to keep this Look For Less on ice for 2 whole days! Take in the photo above... Ok ready?... BEYONCE LOOKS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING IN THIS LEOPARD PRINT DRESS! Now that I've gotten my excitement out of the way, it's back to business... The dress is the statement piece of her ensemble and that's probably why she chose not to wear any accessories. Her black pumps with the gold platform complimented her wrap dress perfectly. This look would be great for date night or any other type of night out in my opinion. I read on Necole Bitchie that this dress that I love so much is Roberto Cavalli and we know the bargain huntress in me had to re-create this look for less! Click here to get this look for less

09.21.2012
One half of Kimye, Kim Kardashian was spotted at the airport in Miami a few days ago and she looked absolutely AMAZING (She's definitely getting her runway on in this pic)! It truly only takes one statement piece to change the entire dynamic of an ensemble....  What's she wearing underneath this Balmain floral motorcyle jacket? Black leather leggings, a black tank and black pumps.... The Jacket alone serves a whole lotta fashion EVERYTHING!  and After about 20 minutes of "jacket lust", I was knocked back to reality and not in a pleasant way when I read that the Balmain Biker Jacket is $3,499! Yes you read right.... It's out of our budgets lol. So, me being the bargain huntress I am, I went on the prowl to find this look for way less! Fly DIY Nail Art: Glossy Black Zebra

09.19.2012
One of my staple nail colours for the fall and winter months is black. The most I've done to jazz it up a lil' bit was add a glitter top coat. I got compliments but I know I have to try something different with my black nails this year. I've been obsessed with the cutepolish YouTube channel for a while because she shows us how simple it is to give our nails a personality of their own. As difficult as this Black Zebra designs appears, cutepolish shows us how we can accomplish this edgy look on our own.

It's from her collection for the department store and is a great way to work it and remain warm. BK's Life: My Big Change, My Big Chop

Picture
09.19.2012
As you can see I decided to cut my hair off.... It happened so fast. I told my dad on a Thursday that I was going to be almost bald the next time he saw me and 2 days later all my hair was gone! I refuse to call this a "natural hair journey" because this journey that I'm on is not just about my hair. I don't know what to name this journey but I'm determined to figure out who Nakia (that's my name btw lol) is again while on it. As most of us mothers do, I work so hard on making sure my son is healthy, happy, well mannered and well educated, that I lost a sense of myself along the way somewhere. I know that I'm an amazing mother but I've decided to get reacquainted with me. The first stop on my journey just happened to be the barber shop. I got one more haircut after that in mid July and decided that that would be the last.... As I walk around with my TWA (Teeny Weeny Afro), I'm feeling refreshed, renewed, inspired and liberated! It was a huge change but one that I see now was needed. I'll keep you posted on my growth process and the other happenings in my life. If you're interested, you'll read it and if you're not, you won't. Until next time my loves xoxox

Since it's been a while I figured I give you guys a look that is well deserved for the wait. I spotted this pic of Jennifer Lopez on the Fashion Bomb Daily last week and I couldn't stop looking..... an all leather dress on a night out is always an amazing choice. A leather dress screams sexy, flirty and powerful. I love how she just has her neck a legs showing, JLo is totally letting the dress speak for itself and it's screaming FIERCE! I also read on Fashion Bomb Daily that her The Row Risting Leather Sheath is $3,390 and her Tom Ford ankle strap pumps were 1,000! Are we all done having a heart attack about those prices? Great, because I found this look for WAY Less. Like $4,000 less! Check out the goods

I really enjoy these Jimmy Choo coarse glitter sneakers seen on Jennifer Lopez. If you too are glitter sneaker crushin' on a budget, I've found some options that'll save a pretty penny (more like $300) Check em' out below.

I really enjoyed Taylor Swift's Performance on the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards last night. I love how her style style has evolved.... She's letting everyone know that she's no longer a lil girl and I really respect that it's not in an overly sexy way. She picking very timeless sophisticated trends to dabble with while enjoying fashion. Last night during her performance of " We Are Never Getting Back Together" she opted for a more nautical inspired ensemble. She added just enough flirty with the short shorts and sophisticated with the striped top with a killer pair of red oxfords and bold with her red lipstick. If this ensembles' got you fashion crushin' on a budget, I've found great options for my fellow Budgetnistas :) Check em' out

Look For Less: Katy Perry

09.06.2012
Out of all the celebrity looks for me to choose, I chose this one seen on Ms. Katy Perry. You know why??? Three words- Floral, Kimono, Jacket. Two more words... Love It!!! Yep, that was the only reason :) I tried to re-create this look for way less but couldn't find a kimono jacket quite as beautiful as this one for less. So I decided to include the original jacket and go really low in price on the other pieces. The Lovers + Friends Lovebirds Kimono in Springtime Floral jacket isn't that much anyway, it's priced at $159 (not too bad) ... I figured, why not be spring time fly in September while the weather is still warm? So have at it, if you're fashion crushing on a budget!

09.06.2012
I spotted this pic of Chris Brown and his girlfriend Karrueche Tran on NecoleBitchie.com last week and while the post was about her tattoo, I was more concerned about her boots! In my opinion a grey boot is a fall/winter staple. Necole Bitchie mentioned that the boots were Jimmy Choo but after scouring the net to no avail, plan b was in full effect. I needed to find a grey pair of open toe boots that were as close in resemblance to Karrueches' as possible! With further digging, I found this pair from Target. Same height and almost identical grey, the only noticeable difference is the rosette on the side. That's a small difference we'll have to deal with, since this awesome look a like is only $49.99!

I love love love this look from Tika Sumpter that I spotted on Fashion Bomb Daily yesterday. Yes, the leopard blouse has A LOT to do with it but I honestly enjoyed the newspaper boy hat and studded shorts. Her mix of the classics and latest trends worked really well together.... I was even more excited to read that her shorts were from Urban Outfitters and only $69!! It's always cool to see celebrities look AMAZING while saving!

There are a ton of summer fashion trends amongst currently and the one that I'm most both tempted and reluctant to try is the statement sunglasses trend. For one, I'm not a huge sunglasses wearer and I've just never found that many options that I've enjoyed on my heart-shaped face. But these Miu Miu Glitter Noir shades have been calling my name since last year. I just haven't replied because of the price! Lucky for me I found a pair that are pretty similar for only a fraction of the price while the sun is still shining. The gold glittery option I've found are from Urban Outfitters are currently on sale for... $6.99! Now if I look absolutely ridiculous in them I won't be upset b/c they're so inexpensive

Happy Friday Everyone! I know that an ensemble like Catherine Middleton's would be torture in the weather we're dealing with today in New York but I just had to find this look for less... Maybe we can keep in mental notes for future outfits because this is definitely an outfit that should be re-created! I would usually say that there was way too much navy or perhaps it's too "matchy-matchy" and needs a pop of color but it doesn't. I guess there's a chance navy can be the new black depending on how it's worn and Kate did an amazing job. I found a ton of goodies for us to get this look for a lot less, so check em' out

I'm not your typical 'Bag-nista' that spends thousands on designers but I am a sucker for fun and quirky accessories. Pieces that everyone won't be seen with always seem to catch my eye! This Olympia Le-Tan Book Clutch is both fun and quirky but unfortunately priced at about $1100- $1400 is well out of the range I'm willing to spend on a bag (hey I'm just being honest)!! So, with that said I have to make my own.... I hope hollowing one of the books I don't need anymore isn't that hard because I need this book clutch in my life!

She's always willing to give the current trends a try and is normally seen color blocking with the best of em'. I stumbled upon this photo of her in London and I really liked it! Her pewter metallic pumps are for sure the statement piece of her ensemble. Given that she always on some websites' favorite looks list at least once a week, I'm surprised this is my first time featuring our First Lady as a celebrity look for less??? High Hopes for JCP with Nina Garcia now on board

Picture
photo via Pinterest.com
07.30.2012
I remember as a girl "Living" in JC Penney, I was literally in there every Saturday. From ages 3-11, I found all the hottest outfits in that store! Believe me, I felt like I was " servin' it" in elementary and I ABSOLUTELY cared about what I wore and how I looked as a youngin'. Everything had to work and JC Penney's was just the place to find everything I needed. It's been about 16 years since I've actually purchased anything from the department store and nowadays I walk through just because it's close to some of my favorite stores in the mall. So sad but true... my once favorite place to go on the weekends as an adolecent is now merely my shortcut to the mall. The good  news is they've named fashion heavyweight Nina Garcia as  they're 'Style Voice'..... That's an amazing power move on JCP's part because if anyone can help with their "fashion resurrection" so to speak, it is indeed the Fashion Journalist, Fashion Director of Marie Claire and Judge/Mentor on Project Runway. We already have an idea of how much of an impact she'll make because after she tweeted "I’m @jcpenney’s HQ. Thank you Ron Johnson for the walk through of JCP’s prototype. Get ready to shop! Its going to be a game changer!", the department store's stock rose by about 7.5%! Anyone that Nina works with is typically a match made in heaven! JCP has all the potential in the world to be a(the) haven for the bargain huntress. I can't wait to see what she has in store and of course I'll share any new info I get, once I get it!

07.20.2012
Happy Friday my fellow budgetnistas! There's tons of photos of Anne Hathaway on the web right now.... Her style is one that I love but don't see enough of unless she's starring in a movie. Thankfully 'The Dark Knight Rises' hits theaters this week and she was out and about a lil' more promoting and doing interviews. Out of all of her looks from premiers and appearance, I chose her "jetset-chic" ensemble. Yes this is how Anne looks while traveling! I can tell she didn't put much effort into this look and that's what I love most. I mean, I never thought to wear a tweed jacket with a sweatshirt a espadrilles.... The addition of the of the tweed jacket brought the look from casual to chic. TRY THIS TREND AND NOT  OVER-SPEND: PALAZZO PANTS

Picture
photo via www.mybigfatmove.blogspot.com
07.20.2012
Palazzo pants are strongly associated with the 70's but have resurfaced and can be found almost everywhere! You know a trend is popular when it's sold at Forever21.... Surprisingly, this a is trend that can be rather slimming for us girls of a particular size. In my opinion the best way to pull off a palazzo pants ensemble would be to wear heels and a cropped or fitted top to elongate. If you choose not to wear a pair of heels with your palazzos make sure you're wearing a fitted top and the same rule applies to a loose shirt.... you can't forget to wear your heels.  If you're unsure about this trend, pick a pair of palazzo pants that are of light fabric and airy in a solid color. I've already found some options, so we can try this trend and not over spend!

Okay, Seriously, Jessica Alba can do no wrong when it comes to her wardrobe! Even while "casually" going to a coffee shop, she looks great. Jessica Alba’s looks always have me saying to myself “Damn, Why didn’t I think of that” and this rather casual but eye catching ensemble was no different. Most of us wouldn't have felt like the paisley print pant didn't need anything else. It being paired with a white tee and a denim jacket would’ve sufficed but oh no honey, Ms. Alba had other plans! She decided to slip on a pair of hot-pink suede Jenni Kayne flats (They're $415, if you're interested and have a limitless budget) and matching scarf. Those additions immediately brought this look from "Coffee Shop Casual" to "Coffee Shop Chic"! For my budgetnistas that would love to re-create this look for less of course, I gotcha covered. He had such an amazing 2nd grade school year, I  just had to reward him. When asked how he'd like to celebrate his success, he decided a trip to Vegas would be a suitable destination to start his summer off right! It was fun but the desert heat was unforgivable and needless to say, I'm so happy to be back in New York. I really missed our humidity and trees.      This past weekend, Eva Marcille was in LA celebrating Lala Anthony's Birthday and I absolutely loved her look. What I love most about her look is that her African Print skirt is from Marni for H&M for about $39.99 (on ebay) and her Sleeveless Turtleneck Crop Top appears to be from American Apparel for $28!!! It doesn't happen often enough but it is quite refreshing when a celebrity's look is already for less instead of us budgetnistas scouring stores to recreate it based on our budgets. It also reassures that we can look a million bucks without actually spending that!

Look For Less: Ash Bia Wedge  Sneakers

07.02.2012
I've been plotting on these wedge sneakers for a while not but I wasn't sure if spending $250 on a pair of sneakers I can't workout in or wouldn't wear as often was a bright idea.... I love a great pair of "kicks" but my love for sneakers has driven me to make some "not so smart" impulse purchases. Example: Red Chuck Taylor Heels! (I would post pics but they went in the trash a LONG time ago).... So that's why I was so on the fence about these because I'd prefer to spend over my budget on timeless items that I'll one day be able to refer to as "vintage". So, 6 months has past and what do I stumble across on Bakersshoes.com? The Ash Bea Wedge Sneaker Look for less! They're available for pre-order and I'm happy that I held out back in January... I loved how they appeared to be just another normal black wedge with an ankle strap from the front and the shock value of it not having a heel when you catch a side view of the shoe.... I SOOOO needed these in my life but shortly saw that they were over $700! I came to grips with the fact that the heel-less wedge may not be a shoe that I'll have in my closet for a while unless one of my favorite DIY bloggers found a way  I could to recreate a pair of my own (if that's even possible to do a home).     Happy Friday my fellow Budgetnistas! It really didn't take long for me to decide who I wanted to feature as today's celebrity look for less after seeing this photo of Zoe Saldana. I think I'm in love with most 70's inspired ensembles. If I had a choice of which decade, I'd like to relive my teens in for a day, it would hands down be the 70's. The hair, the fashion and music all had a very "carefree-ness" about them. I used to look at photos of my aunts and grandmother in their wide leg pants, fitted blouses, the fullest heathy afros and bright smiles in aww and a little envy lol. I hope you all enjoyed you long weekend thanks to Memorial Day :) I didn't do much, relaxed and joined almost every other woman in it seems like the world and started reading 50 Shades of Gray... pretty good read and I was finished in about a day. I guess while my son is with his father this weekend, I'll start the second book of the trilogy, 50 Shades Darker (That title even sounds steamy lol). Anywho, back to what you guys have all checked out this site for... Fashion For Less! I don't have to gush about how much I LOVE Eva Longoria's style. If you regularly read Budgetnista Buzz, you're aware because she's featured as a Celebrity look for less often. I love this look on her because she's embracing the huge "Orange Hue" trend that we'll see for the warmer month and the Rust Orange Victoria Beckham Sheath dress paired with her Brian Atwood  Mary Jane platform keeps this look  sophisticated and sexy but also somewhat playful and professional in my opinion.     Here comes the bride all dressed in UGGS????? So the cozy shoe brand has gone bridal with their "I Do" Collection. I personally have never owned a pair of Uggs in my life but It's only because I'm not a fan of insulated boots. I mean it gets pretty cold in New York but I have my trusty Timberlands for snowy days. It's a smart decision in my opinion because there are millions of women in the world that swear by the boot and wear them with everything and in any weather :/ If you can wear them with shorts, dresses and leggings why not a bridal gown? It ensures that your walk down the isle will be one of comfort and there's less of a chance you'll trip lol..Loyal consumers equal, continuous business and Ugg has some LOYAL consumers. I can picture myself wearing this on a date or even a night out. Herve Leger fits like a glove, snatches you up and smooths out our "problem areas" lol... but who has $2,000 to spend on a dress? Not I and If your reading this post, you may not be able to or don't want to either.... Read More and Get This Look For Less

So, maybe I have a slight obsession with do it yourself bracelet projects but in my defense, I wouldn't be as obsessed if all of my favorite bloggers didn't post such awesome projects! lol... Seriously, I love learning to make my own accessories and clothes because It's saving me money in the long run a what Budgetnista doesn't love to save? If you're like me, the girl that invites almost every bracelet she owns to her arm party, then you're going to love and want to add this one to your collection. The Triple Ball Chain Bracelet is a project from Stripes & Sequins. I think last week I already babbled on about how much I love this blog and why. Not only does Grace feature projects and steps for crafters of every level but you can get a since of how amazing she is as a person just by reading a lot of her other posts! Even though she is best known for her AMAZING DIY projects, I'm a daily reader of Stripes & Sequins because I wanna know what she has to say. Learn How To Make This Triple Ball Chain Bracelet

Look For Less: Taylor Swift

05.23.2012
Happy Wednesday! Today's Celebrity Look For Less is a look I spotted on Ms. Taylor Swift. This is a rather casual look but I felt like her look was perfect to show my versatility when it comes to what I wear. I always alternate the looks for less featured because quite frankly this is how I am when it comes down to what I want to wear each day. There's never one particular trend that I've embraced more then the rest. I'm a woman who believes that I'm just as beautiful and feminine in a pair of Jordans, boyfriend jeans and a tank as I am in a sheath dress and killer heels! I wear I'll be most comfortable in on that day! So this Taylor Swift reminded of how beautiful we can all be in something so simple.... Read More

Look For Less: Kim K's Celine  Sandals

05.23.2012
It seems like Kim's been getting her money's worth out of those black Celine calf-velvet mulese sandals. She's been spotted everywhere in them and that means that not only do they look amazing with all the ensembles she's paired them with but that they also are most likely really comfortable. It's definitely beneficial for all of us to have a nice black thin strapped pair of sandals for the Spring, Summer and Fall months. They won't take much attention off of your outfit and like I mentioned, can pretty much be be worn with almost anything. Instead of paying the amount  Kim did, I found this Michael Antonio Luelle sandal for only $32.90 as an option for us Budgetnistas :)

Happy Monday my fellow Budgetnistas! Even though it's pouring outside here in New York, we can still fit in our daily dose of fashion for less. Weekend Recap

05.21.2012
I didn't do much this weekend... My son was with his father this weekend and I found myself at home with nothing really planned. I decided to get my haircut (went almost bald on the sides), pedicure and did some knitting.... I promised my son a red and black scarf but at the time he didn't know, I didn't know how to change colors while knitting lol... Like most parents, I agreed to make it happen for my son and I had to go on youtube and learn how to  change colors really quick and start it. That's all I did this weekend and It was  relaxing. Staying in the house isn't as bad as you think, as long as you you get things done. I ended my weekend with a Criminal Minds marathon (I live for that show) on Sunday and that's that. My perfectly unplanned weekend :)

05.18.2012
It's Friday my fellow Budgetnistas!!! I'm not quite sure what I'll be doing this weekend but I'm sure I'm getting out of the house and Long Island! Wherever I'll be, I'll make the best of it, while on a budget of course. To end this week's Celebrity Look For Less is a woman who in my mind IS Boho-Chic. Nicole Richie's style is one that many people want and when she announced earlier this week that she'll be creating a collection for Macy's, I was ecstatic! Vintage and thrft store shopping is something I'll still do but for those that don't have the time to hunt for the hidden thrifted and vintage treasures, can go right to Macys and get a taste of Bohemian-Chic. ...Read More

05.18.2012
This week's Fly DIY project feature is one of my favorite Blogs, Stripes & Sequins. It was one of the first blogs I'd read on a daily basis, simply because I just couldn't get enough of her cool projects and how Grace shows crafters of all levels how to make really awesome things! These chain friendship bracelets are a great spin and somewhat upgrade from the bracelets most of us learned to make when we were lil girls. This is like a "dressed up" friendship bracelet, a little more sophisticated but still just as fun to wear! As always, Graces' steps and photos are super helpful. This is definitely a piece of arm candy we all should make while the weather is warming up. Learn how to make your on chain friendship bracelet here

05.16.2012
Happy Wednesday my fellow Budgetnistas! Today's Celebrity Look For Less is feature is a actress you've seen often on here. Eva Longoria's style is one that I absolutely love. She just always looks AMAZING and doesn't go too far. She know what works for her and is aware of what to wear to accentuate her assets and stay comfortable at the same time. This look would be a look you'd see any woman on the street wear and that's what I love most about it. She allowed the colored jeans to be the statement piece of this ensemble and wore neutrals around it to let their true color POP. The neutral, thin strap sandals elongate the leg and a pretty loose white button up keeps it casual....Read More and Get The Look For Less

I'm obsessed with stackable rings! Thinner stackable rings compliment my tiny hands and aren't threatening to my usually arm party. If I'm wear a lot of thin bangles and bracelets I FEEL like I should be wearing a lot of thin stackable rings. In my opinion they compliment one another lol. As much as I LOVE stackable rings, I always seem to misplace them. That's why I was filled with excitement when Kristen from Glitter n' Glue posted this DIY project.     The Kardashian sisters are always being photographed, no matter where they are. As beautiful as they may be, I was more excited about Khloe's neon yellow Proenza Schouler satchel. Neon colored accessories is the route I'll go to add a lil more pop to my wardrobe and enjoy the trend this spring and summer. I absolute needed this bag but I'm totally NOT willing to spend $1,275! That's definitely out of the question lol. So of course I did what any budgetnista would do, Searched for a similar option for a fraction and I mean a SMALL fraction of the price in this case. Shopbop.com and Steve Madden both have neon yellow satchels, both GREAT alternatives to the Proenza Schouler and budget-worthy! Fashion makes me happy but SAVING on fashion makes me even happier :)

04/30/2012
So, if you haven't guessed by looking at my logo. I'm OBSESSED with leopard print! It started at a fairly young age and it's grown as I've gotten older! Beyonce's new mommy (I'm going to be as comfy as possible) look is one that I'm loving right now. There's a SOHO-Chic-ness that she pulls off really well. So I see this photo of her online and immediately, I'm drawn to the sunglasses. Print Frame sunglasses was an accessory trend that I was a lil hesitant to try but I NEEDED those leopard print sunglasses in my life. I knew that I wasn't going to spend $430 that Roberto Cavalli is asking for, so my next best option was to scour the net for a similar pair but for a fraction of that price. I was in luck! ASOS has an almost identical pair for $21.81. HA! Mission Complete!

I've never shopped for clothing at K-Mart and up until now I've never been interested enough to even consider it.... I'd much rather spend hours in a thrift store searching for hidden treasure. I didn't feel like K-Mart carried anything that I would've worn but Sofia Vergara's Collection for K-Mart is a collection that most of us budgetnistas can truly enjoy. It's feminine and flirty, exactly what comes to mind when we think of Sofia. Sexy tops, "freakum" and maxi dresses, skinny jeans, shorts and even swim suits. Fly DIY: Neon Shoes via ...Love Maegan

03.16.2012
Happy Friday Everyone! So neon shoes are going to be a trend that we're bound to see everywhere. I've lived in all black for the last few years and am starting to add a little more color to my wardrobe. As cute as an all neon shoe is I'm not sure if I'm will to pay $100 for an ALL neon pump, platform or flat. I'm not so comfy with that much color just yet, so I was stoked to find the DIY on ...love Maegan this week! It'll sure make playing nice with neon a little easier for me and the best part about it is that this project can be accomplished with nail polish. Yes you read it correctly, NAIL POLISH! Check it out here and enjoy your weekend. xoxox

3  Thrifting  Essentials: What You Need For  A Pleasant Thrift Store Experience

ShopStyle
03.12.2012
So even though I love nice weather, I absolutely hate all of my allergic reactions to everything that comes along with this nice weather. I'm one those people allergic to EVERYTHING. The list is so long, after hearing it most people laugh and say I should be living in a bubble. OK that was off topic but I'm talking about my allergies because I planned on going to Goodwill or a Thrift Store for a little bit of bargain hunting this weekend and decided not because I was out of one of my 3 Thrift Store Essentials... BENADRYL! There's no way I'd be able to survive scouring racks for hours in a thrift store without it. My 3 Must Have's for Thrifting are, Time: Usually thrift stores have piles and piles of clothes and other great stuff. It's easy to miss the hidden treasures if you don't take the time to look. Remember to set aside at least about 2 hours depending on how big the thrift store of your choice is. Allergy Medicine (if you have dust allergies): This can be in the form of eye drops, nasal spray or tablet form( don't drive if you take a tablet unless you get the okay from your doctor or pharmacist): The goodies in Thrift Stores were once owned by someone else. We also don't know how long that item has been just sitting on the shelf or rack for. Also, because items are usually brought in by bulk and let's be honest, the clerks are most of the time working so hard and barely have time to dust. The last item is Hand Sanitizer: Your touching USED goodies, If you don't already have a travel sized bottle in your bag, I suggest you purchase one before you go thrift/ consignment store shopping. I hope these tips were helpful and happy hunting!

One of this spring's accessory trends will be rope inspired pieces. I love this trend because it'll add a little "industrial flare" to your look. The best part about this accessory trend is that you can go to any hardware store and find almost all the materials you need to make a rope necklace, bracelet or belt yourself! I spotted this great tutorial on I Spy DIY.  Think of it like this, You can make it Saturday morning and wear it out on Saturday night!!!!!    Happy Monday my Budgetnistas! I hope all of you had an eventful or relaxing weekend (which ever you preferred). On Saturday morning, I took my son to Home Depot's FREE monthly kids workshop. That afternoon we were NYC bound for Vegetarian Food Festival. I couldn't miss this because I've only attended events like this in my dreams! I'm a vegetarian foodie and thoroughly enjoy making and tasting new dishes that fit my lifestyle. My son who wasn't as excited to go, decided to support me on my meatless journey for the day. As soon as we walk in.... BOOM, Samples everywhere!!! and it wasn't just food... beauty products, deodorant, soaps and lip balms were available to sample as well.  I ate and talked for literally 3 hours. I met some really cool people. Vegans, Vegetarians and even some people like my son, who just came to support their vegetarian/ vegan friend or family member. Most of the products that we sampled, were also available to purchase at a discounted price. The admission was only $5 dollars per person but experience was worth way more than that! I can't wait for next years'! Amount Spent this weekend was $21.50!!!! Check out some of the goodies I bought below.

House Of Dereon Spring 2012 Collection

02.24.2012
I have to be honest with you, I'm not a huge fan of the House of Dereon collections prior to this one... The garments were well put together, I just didn't get Beyonce's vision as a designer. This spring's collection on the other hand, is one that women of different body types can enjoy. The ad is interesting and also tells us a lil more about the woman that wears House of Dereon. There's lots of color, it's feminine, gritty and urban at the same time! The woman that rocks these threads is confident, flirty and down to earth. She wears what she is comfortable in because she's confortable in her skin! Watch the ad below or check out the lookbook in it's entirety here

Ways To Save On Fashion... Budgetnista's How To's

Picture
02.24.2012
Along with talking about the latest fashion trends, I always include their "budget worthy" options. Looking a million bucks without going broke is possible and here are some tips on how to shop like a "budgetnista".

Look for Online Deals
Sign up for email newsletters from retailers, and they'll send you coupons, and keep you abreast of their latest sales. It's great being able to see all of the items on sale before you head down to the store. This makes the bargain hunting easier. When you've decided what you want, you can call the store and ask them if they have the item in stock. If they do, Most stores will place a 24 hour hold on your item. Finding out about sales when you walk in the store is never good because in my opinion "the more you Search, the more you Spend"

Shop Out of Season
Shop for spring and summer items in the fall, and buy your fall and winter looks when spring rolls around. If you choose to spend your entire savings on an item, make sure your purchase something  that will be around for more than one season. We all like to treat ourselves every once in a while. When doing so, you should get the most for your money.

Make it Last
Caring for your clothes will help them last longer . Use gentle detergents and fabrics softeners, Wash in the temperature directed on the care tag, avoid the dryer when possible (always when it comes to those designer jeans) and hang and fold clothes properly.

Shop Vintage and Consignment
With so many trends from the past creepping up again, it's worth hitting your local thrift store to shop for the latest trends. You can even make money on clothes you don't want while shopping for new looks by consigning garments you don'y wear anymore. It may take longer to find exactly what you are looking for at a used clothing store than at a traditional retailer, so be patient, Take a benadryl if you have dust allergies (like me lol) and remember to thoroughly clean all garments before you wear them because the used!

Learn How to Sew
Learning how to make a few, simple alterations can save you lots of money!! Start by mastering basics like replacing buttons and hemming pants and you may find yourself inspired to try more elaborate projects. Once you get the hang of it, you may decide to just start making most of your wardrobe! If you don't want to pay for a basic sewing class your local arts and crafts store, feel free to try your luck with YouTube.  Happy Saving and Have an AMAZING Weekend

Spring  2012 Trend: The Statement Blazer

Picture
Photo via stylenugget.com
 02.20.2012
Happy Monday my Budgetnistas!!! I hope everyone's weekend was one of productivity and relaxation.... The Spring 2012 fashion trend I want to discuss next is The Colored (Statement) Blazer. It will come in handy by giving us that pop of color our ensemble may need. The best part about the colored blazer is that with it being such a statement piece, you can wear little to none accessories. If you decide to, you can opt to wear thin bangles on the arm, some studs or thin hoops in the ear and that's it! If you're not completely sold on how beneficial a colored blazer can be or not ready to over-spend on this trend check out the budget-worthy goodies I've found for us below.

02.10.2012
This week's FLY DIY Friday feature is a project I found on one of my favorite DIY blogs, I Spy DIY! It's so creative yet practical. This clutch is so inexpensive to make and doubles as a folded newspaper. Thank goodness I spotted this project before the Recycling truck came this morning to pick up all the newspaper I haven't even looked at for the last 2 weeks! I have a really thin clutch that I purchased from Forever21 a few years ago and now all I have to buy is the modpodge. This is definitely a project we should all give a go. If you don't have anything planned or have some down time this weekend, try it out. I'll be making mine during the Grammy's on Sunday. Anywho, learn how to make this newspaper clutch here and enjoy your weekend

Happy Monday my Budgetnistas! It's the start of a new week and I hope everyone makes it a productive one... Minka Kelly looked super cute while casual in Beverly Hills a few days ago and she wore a taupe blouse, denim wide leg jeans and a pair of wedges, a gold watch, beaded bracelet, gold bangle and thin stackable rings on three of her fingers. She added a pop of color with her coral nail polish and that was just enough. Very comfortable ensemble... Women of all sizes can accomplish this look for way less. Fly DIY: Color Popped Collar via
Glitter n' Glue

Picture
photo via Glitter n' Glue
02.03.2012
This Friday's FLY DIY feature was found on one of my favorite DIY blogs, Glitter n' Glue... This is a project that can be done on almost any button down you own. The great thing about this project is that the only thing we have to spend money on is a Sharpie Fabric Marker because we all own a button down shirt. If you're in the 5% of non button up owners, go out and buy 1 for really cheap. This project will probably take no more than 10 minutes! Kristen just makes this project look so easy that we have to try it... Give this Color Popped Collar a try, I'm sure you won't regret it. I foresee all of my button downs going through a color popped collar transformation in the near future. Check out how to color pop our collars for super cheap

Happy Friday my beautiful budgetnistas! It's the end of another work week and time to let loose or for some of us to just relax. On Wednesday, I featured a "Valentines Day" date night look but for us single gals, that Kim K look may not be the one for us. I stumbled upon this photo of Nicole Scherzinger on Just Jared and though it would be a great look for less for us budgetnistas who'll be going out for drinks or not really celebrating the holiday for lovers. I know there's alot going on... The faux fur vest over a lace long sleeve top but keeping it simple with all black makes it work really well. I LOVE this look! It's laid back yet stylish

Today, "a friend in my head" Talk Show host Wendy Williams announced that she'll be launching her very own accessories line on Friday! The line is called Adorn and will be available on QVC. Wendy may be wealthy but she doesn't forget about us budgetnistas (that's one of the qualities I love about her). The price points of the pieces that are currently on QVC.com aren't expensive at all. This is Breaking Budgetnista News, so I had to post what I know so far!  I'll definitely be tuning in on Friday at 8pm to see the entire collection. I know for sure that I'll be purchasing the Wendy Williams Multi Stone Paw Print Hammered Ring.      Happy February my Budgetnistas! With Valentines Day being a few weeks away, I figured I'd feature a look for less that would a great wardrobe option for a hot date on that day. I spotted this pic of Kim Kardashian on InStyle.com. Red is one of the traditional colors for the" day of lovers" and is currently a hot fashion trend, so you can pretty much find it everywhere nowadays. A red lace dress is such a statement piece on it's own that Kim chose wisely by being a little modest with her accessories and a nude platform pump. Celebrity Look For Less: Jessica Alba

Picture
01.30.2012
Happy Monday my Budgetnistas!! My weekend was pretty eventful. I went salsa dancing at SOB's  for my best friends birthday on Friday and we danced A LOT. I'm not sure how many calories I burned but based on how sore the my legs and obliques were, I'm going to estimate around 1000 lol. I also did some thrifting at Beacon's Closet and tried a new vegan/vegetarian restaurant name Red Bamboo. I was really busy this weekend but in a good way and I didn't spend that much to have tons of fun! With sooo much going on I still managed to obsess over a celeb's ensemble. Today's Celebrity Look for Way Less is Jessica Alba. Her style is amazing and appears to be effortless. She always looks so comfy in what she's wearing. What I loved about this look was how she fusioned her 70's inspired get-up with a pop of color from her blazer. I also love that she knew to be modest with her accessories, since she's wearing a statement blazer, striped blouse, high waist flared jeans and gold wedges. Who else can look this amazing while embracing two trends at once? Check out the goodies I've found for us to accomplish this look for way less.

Fly DIY: J.Crew Gold Loafer Inspired

01.27.2012
Happy Friday my Budgetnistas! So yesterday I'm online scouring the net for some DIY inspiration and lay eyes on these "to die for" J. Crew inspired gold loafers on Hey! Look What I Made! --- before she even shows us the end result, Melissa let's us know that this is her very first shoe DIY. I think she did a fantastic job and even though I'm not a loafer lover (I'm more of an oxfords kinda girl), I have to make an exception for these!! Instead of paying $250 at J. Crew, why not create your own pair? This Do It Yourself Project doesn't require a ton of materials or time. Thanks sooo much Melissa! Celebrity Look For Less: Hayden Panettiere

Picture
photo via Just Jared
01.25.2012
Happy Wednesday my Budgetnistas! As a society we tend to hold celebrities on a higher pedestal than they're actually on. They're treated as if they're super-human. With everything being so media driven and celebs being under a microscope at all times, there's a lot of pressure for them to SEEM and LOOK perfect at all times. Our favorite actors and musicians grocery shopping in six inch heels and their finest designer duds ?! How realistic is that? I honestly thought about that while searching for today's Celebrity Look For Way Less. I saw a picture of Kim Kardashian shopping in LA the other day all dolled up and I just didn't believe her. "Shopping til you drop" can't be too comfy while in a pair of Louboutin pumps.  She looked amazing as always but I wasn't moved. Then I see the photo of Hayden Panettiere on JustJared.com and I was so relieved. A celebrity comfortable enough to not fear the paparazzi taking a pic of her shopping in a very casual outfit. So, me being the rebel I am decided Hayden will be featured today. This look for less doesn't include a dress, heels, make-up, jewlery or a purse... She's beautiful and has a ton of confidence in her casual attire. I  really love seeing celebs dress "down". Check out the goodies I found for us to accomplish Hayden's look for way less.

01.23.2012
Happy Monday my Budgetnistas!!! I hope everyones' weekend was one of productivity and relaxation. If you're in the north east like me, you're well aware of the snow we've finally had. It wasn't a large amount but I just hate the snow (a flurry is way too much snow for me lol). With it being so frigid I was definitely inspired by Kate Moss's "Layered Look" I spotted her in on InStyle.com. All of the Budgetnistas that experience a winter like ours in New York, understand that fashion doesn't take a weather break. The show must go on and layering is definitely something we have to do to avoid having the sniffles the next day. Why not be stylish and stay warm? Also we all know how much I LOVE a leopard print (hence my layout), so this Look For Way Less was a no brainer! I hope you find the goodies I've found helpful to accomplish Kate's look for way less. Picture
01.20.2012
Happy Friday my Budgetnistas!!! I hope everyone had a very productive work week. Now that the weekend is approaching and I have no plans of going out, I scoured my favorite blogs for a somewhat easy DIY project. Something that I'll wear often and won't just sit in my closet and collect dust. It's always more fun to answer a stranger who asks where I purchased a piece that I'm wearing with " I made this". So I find this Pearl Encrusted Deep V T-Shirt on ...love Maegan the other day and I'm so excited to make it! This is an item of clothing that can easily be dressed up or down! I'm sure I'll wear this more than once. As soon as I'm done with this shirt I'm pairing it with some of my favorite destroyed jeans! Oh did I mention how excited I am to try this? lol. We all have a v-neck tee that can use a lil pick me up and this project will do the trick! If you don't have a v-neck tee, Forever21 always has some basic tees for less the $5 at times. Check out how we can create this Pearl Encrusted Tee Here

So obviously, Michelle Williams attended the " My Week With Marilyn" lunch in LA (she's starring in the movie duh). I came across the picture of her on InStyle and I had to re-create the Look for Less. Clearly she's mastered "Matchy Matchy" in this Jason Wu burgungy leather pencil skirt, crew-neck striped sweater, nude peep-toe Miu Miu pumps and matching burgundy nail polish.... With everyone working so hard to "stand out", it was very refreshing to lay eyes on Michelle's ensemble. She looks great! What I Want From "Wu"

Picture
01.18.2012
I know, I know, this is a pretty late post but I just finished reviewing the entire Jason Wu for Target collection and price points. I saw the collection online a few days ago but needed to know the prices before I decided whether or not I'm going to wake up a crack of dawn on Feb 5th. There's nothing that hurts more than having a "relationship" with an item, only to to find out that it's price is way more than your budget will allow you to spend.... Gut Wrenching, I know.... Anywho, I was super excited to see that the two dresses from the collection that I've been drooling over are definitely within my budget YAY!!! Missoni caused histeria, shutting down Target's website and I predict the same for Jason Wu... The collection has been circulating the internet for about a week now but if you haven't reviewed it for yourself, check it out here via NYmag along with my fave pieces below

Spring Trends 2012: Orange Hues

Picture
01.18.2012
Happy Wednesday my Budgetnistas!!! So I have no idea who decided that Orange was the official color of the spring and summer months of 2012 but I'm sooo glad they did! One of my fashion resolutions for this year is to wear more color.... I used to have tons of color in my closet but as a stylists I'm asked to wear black on jobs and that's the color I see most when I'm deciding what to wear nowadays lol. Orange Hues not only have the ability to warm up any ensemble but a room. Find out which shade in the "orange family" best compliments your skin tone. The trend isn't stopping at your attire.... Orange is also a huge make-up, accessories, jewelry and nail trend. If you're a lil nervous about taking on this pop of color, try pairing it with neutrals or white. To avoid spending tons of money on this trend, check out all the goodies I've found for us Budgetnistas along with prices for items in above pic here

Style Icon: Mrs. Coretta Scott- King

01.16.2012
So the very reason why my son and many children are off from school today is to recognize a very powerful man's birthday.... Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. helped change a very segregated United States. For me, Sky's the Limit and he's one of the reasons I have the freedom to do and accomplish many of the things my great- grandparents and grandparents weren't able to. Today isn't just a celebration of his birthday but a celebration of his life! I get very emotional when I think about what he means to me as an African- American, so for right now I'll focus on fashion... He and Mrs. Coretta Scott-King were collectively a fashionable couple. A power couple who's styles definitely complimented each other. She is one of my fashion icons because she was always so elegant in whatever she wore. Mrs. Scott- King was so well put together and stunningly beautiful. Her make-up was always flawless and she never wore too much. A natural beauty.... I'm done writing about  her sense of style, I'm going to let her sophistication speak for itself. Enjoy some of my favorite photos of one of my fashion Icons above. Happy MLK Day!!!

Celebrity Look For Less: Kim Kardashian

Picture
01.16.2012
Happy Monday my Budgetnistas! I hope everyones' weekend was wonderful... I made pizzas from scratch and watched football. In my book it was a relaxing weekend. My son is off from school so I reserved today as our "arts and crafts" day. In between plays still was able to come across this pic of Kim Kardashian. She was spotted in LA shopping last week and she looked amazing. She's definitely gotten the memo about orange hues being the color of 2012. She paired her "burnt orange" silk blouse with camel colored high waist trousers, a similar color tote and platforms. I love that she went light on the accessories, knowing that her blouse was the statement piece of this ensemble! She didn't over do it and I really like this look on her. Check out how we can accomplish this look for way less ladies!

Fly DIY: Rope Wrapped Chain Bracelet via I Spy DIY

Picture
01.13.2012
Happy Friday my Budgetnistas!!! I hope all of you have had a very productive week. I'm not sure what I'll be doing this weekend but I know for a fact that I want to go thrifting and maybe to JoAnn's to get crafting supplies. Tomorrow is my cheat day (raw food diet) but I haven't found a new restaurant I'd love to cheat at lol. I'll figure it out. I will not be staying in the house this weekend!!!! I REFUSE lol. So now back to the Fly DIY of the week... It's actually a Rope Wrapped Chain Bracelet from I Spy DIY. I'm not too sure if you guys know just how much I LOVE a good arm party? but I always pack my arm with as many bracelets I feel necessary to compliment my ensemble. It's gotten to the point where I'll add bracelets made from different materials and not just your typical bangles purchased from stores, alot of them are also made. I've seen these bracelets in a bunch of stores and figured I'd feature this DIY. This is a great way to save money and add a lil diversity to your arm parties. Definitely give this DIY a try! Check out how to make this Rope Wrapped Chain Bracelet here

01.11.2012
Happy Hump Day my Budgetnistas!!!! With a 101 fever yesterday I still made time to check out some of my favorite fashion blogs and websites. Honestly, I think only death can keep me from fashion! I also always feel the need to find my favorite celeb's look for less. Even if it won't be featured on the blog, I just like the challenge of it lol. So I came across this picture of the always so beautiful Angelina Jolie on InStyle. They named her look of the day and I totally agreed. This wasn't your typically "safe" Black and White ensemble. With the different textures of each piece she was taking a chance. A chance that alot of women aren't willing to take. Let's get more comfortable with " texture blocking" ....There's silk blouse, patent leather pump, leather pencil skirt and a slight splash of color with her simple emerald stone necklace. Check out the goodies I've found for us to accomplish Angelina's look for way less!

I decided to take this break to write out my "Blog Resolutions" and "Plan of Action".  Also to clear my head and It worked out as planned but I don't think I'll be taking a break like this until the end of 2012 lol. It was great because I spent alot of time with my son while he was out for Christmas Break and even got a new tattoo! Enough about me.... It's time to get back to business. A few days ago I saw this picture of Kristen Bell while online and fell in love with this ensemble! She's totally embracing the menswear trend but keeping it flirty and feminine with the silky material "red hot" trousers, the sexy sequined top and satin pumps!!! Everything just seemed work. It's an awesome Celebrity Look For Way Less to come back with.... Check out all the goodies I've found to help us accomplish Kristen's look for way less!!!!

Picture
12.23.2011
Happy Friday Budgetnistas! As we all know, metallic is a super cute winter and holiday trend to try. I stumbled upon this pic of the always well put together Blake Lively last week. She was at Sprinkles in NYC making a S'mores cupcakes for charity! Ms. Lively looked A-MAZING in her Gucci ensemble. She paired her outfit with a pair of Brian Atwood pumps. This is such a cute outfit that can be worn to a holiday party or a get together anytime this winter. I'm wondering if she actually mixed the cake batter because there is absolutely no way I'd be able to keep that white button as clean a she did lol... Check out the goodies I found and made for us to accomplish this look for less. I really hope you have an awesome day. Let's make it a productive one! Holiday and Winter Trend: Sequins

12.19.2011
Happy Monday my Budgetnistas! I hope everyones' weekend was very relaxing. It's back to business and with most of us being so worried about what we still have to buy for our loved ones, an outfit for an upcoming holiday party/get together has been forgotten. The easiest thing to pick up right now would be a sequins piece. Whether it be a top, dress, pants, shorts, shoes or jacket, it should do the trick. Adding a sequins shoe, cardigan, blazer or jacket can change the entire look of an all black ensemble! Now, that you see how much easier sequins can make picking out an outfit. Lets talk about accessories... In my opinion, your sequins piece also plays as an accesory so if you insist on having an arm party please make sure it's in moderation and compliments your overall look. Most of all remember, YOU should be comfortable in whatever you wear! If you're uncomfortable, it's going to show. I found some really nice pieces If you're not up for hitting the mall or scour the internet. I always include the name of the piece, the store and price. Hope this helps as some "ensemble inspiration"
Check out this trend's budget-worthy options here

Fly DIY: Gold Leaf Manicure via Stripes And Sequins

Picture
12.16.2011
Happy Friday my Budgetnistas!!! So sorry for the late post but my lil man is home sick from school today :-(( but while he's settled I figured I get this taken care of. So I'm sure almost all of us know what we're going to be wearing for the numerous parties we'll be attending this holiday season. If you haven't, I have an awesome post coming on Monday with a ton of last minute budget- worthy options for us to choose from. Today I wanted to feature an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G nail DIY tutorial that I found on Stripes and Sequins, a blog I frequently scour for inspiration. Minx nails are still really popular and the gold and silver foil manicures are the reason most of us want to give it a try. I'm so glad I found this tutorial because I've recently after seven long years, removed the acrylic from my nails and want to start doing my own manicures. Most of the things we spend money on, with a lil time can do ourselves. Even though I don't plan on doing anything this weekend, I will definitely take the time out to give this gold leaf manicure and pedicure a go. This a great manicure that will surely catch everyone's eye, any time of the year. The best part about it is that instead of paying $50 for a minx manicure, Jo-Ann Fabrics has the 25 pack of gold leaf sheets on sale for only $5.94 online!!!! Check out how to do this amazing manicure just in time for the weekend and the holidays here

Celebrity Look For Less: Amber Rose

Picture
photo via NecoleBitchie.com
12.14.2011
Happy Hump Day my Budgetnistas!!! I'm feeling sooo much better... like most of America, I'm addicted to the internet lol. As sick as I was yesterday, I still made time to check out some of my favorite blogs. While I was on Necole Bitchie and Fashion Bomb Daily, I spotted this pic of Amber Rose. The posts were about her rockin' a dark brown wig, and as beautiful as she looks with the longer hair, I was more interested in the outfit she was wearing. She was so casual but I enjoyed the look a lot. Opaque and Statement tights are definitely a HUGE trend for the cooler months this year and can be found almost anywhere. A simple boyfriend  blazer, destroyed light denim jean shorts and a basic black tank were paired perfectly with those Wolford "Tiger Tights". I needed them but I'm honestly not going to pay $65 for them. So yesterday, I decided Ms. Rose would be featured for this week's Celebrity Look For Way Less. Unfortunately, no one took a picture of her shoes but we already know they were just as fierce as the rest of the ensemble! When I find a full body pic, trust that I'll include the footwear in this look for less. Oh the best pic of her in my opinion was taken by Prince William/ ATLPics.net??? (Well that's what is says on the photo lol) Check out how to accomplish her look without going broke!

Celebrity Look For Less: Jessica Alba

Picture
12.07.2011
Happy Hump Day Budgetnistas!!! I hope everyone's week has been very productive thus far. The Christmas season is always one that can be very stressful, if you allow it. Fashion, Music, Art and Meditation keep me stress and drama free. That's the reason why I chose this super comfy look by Jessica Alba to be the Celeb Look for Way Less feature this week. Ms. Alba was spotted in the ensemble in Hollywood but can very much be worn in any climate. After discussing the latest fashion trends, I always make a point to remind us while it's great rockin' the latest in fashion, the most important part is staying true to you and being as comfortable as possible. Honestly, What's more comfortable than a white v-neck tee, boyfriend blazer, a pair of skinnies that fit (not a pair that give you a muffin top, flatten your butt and you have the plummer in). She's also wearing black leather wedged boots. It gets no easier than that! Gotta love Jessica Alba... She always looks amazing! Check out what I've found for us to achieve this look for way less here

Trending Without Overspending: Velvet

12.05.2011
Happy Monday My Budgetnista!!! I hope everyone's weekend was fun and productive. I did a ton of research and got inspired for future blog posts... really eventful weekend right? (I'm such a party animal lol). So with the holidays and New Years eve approaching us, I wanted to post a Winter/Holiday fashion trend today. No it's not sequins, It's VELVET. A trend that appears this time each year is popping up everywhere as of late. It's so sophisticated, flattering and soft. It just makes sense to try this trend this winter. In my opinion, you don't have to wear too many accessories with a velvet piece. It's just enough all on it's own. If  you insist on accessorizing, please don't go over board. We all know how fast over accessorizing can make a very well thought/ put together outfit appear tacky. This is such an awesome winter trend to try, especially if you're the Budgetnista that doesn't enjoy all the sparkle of a sequins ensemble. This is by far one of the winter trends anyone can look amazing in. Remember, we want to remain comfortable more than anything. Personally I've had my eye on a pair of velvet knicker shorts from Asos.com that I stumbled across online this weekend. Of course I found some other hot budget worthy options so that we can all embrace this trend in one way or another. Click here to check out the inexpensive velvety treasures I've found.

Picture
photo via www.fashionbombdaily.com
12.02.2011
Happy Friday my Budgetnistas!!! I know is December but I couldn't help but to DIY those American Flag Shorts from Top Shop Rihanna was spotted wearing a few weeks ago. I had to have a pair but I have to be honest, I'm not patriotic enough to spend $70 on a pair of denim shorts with an american flag on them.... Anywho, I decided it would be cool DIY project to post. Whether you decide to make them for next spring/summer or pair them with some killer hoisery like rihanna during the colder months, the choice is yours... The best part is that you can enjoy the patriotic trend and not spend more than you'd like to. Check out how easy it is to make your on pair of American Flag shorts here. PS... You don't have to stop at the shorts. You can add stars and stripes to anything light denim you want!!! I hope this is helpful and that you guys have an awesome weekend!

It's a win/win situation because both are hot!!! Anywho, I have to go find an all white sweat suit for my son. He's going to be snirt (snow and dirt mixture) in his school's play. I hope this post assists you ladies in re-creating these looks and enjoy the rest of your day. xoxoxox

Versace For H&M Collection: "Real" Women Not Good Enough???

Picture
Up until a few days ago I was SOOOO excited about the Versace for H&M line that is set to hit stores on Nov. 19, 2011. There's so much buzz about this line that the New York Daily News was planning to feature a photo of the everyday woman in NYC wearing pieces from the collection. After all, Donatella's reason for collaborating with H&M was to have Versace available to the everyday woman right? Wrong!!! It's reported that when the the idea was pitched, a Rep said that the feature of a "regular" women" would most likely not be accepted by Versace... saying “Donatella [would] likely not approve shooting the collection on real women.”  Guess what? the feature shoot never happend...News Flash Donatella, " Real Women" are your target market given the fact your collection is exclusively for H&M!!! I enjoy the collection but will not be purchasing an item from it! I feel like Versace's collaboration with H&M was purely for financial gain. I feel that Donatella is in no way, shape or form interested in the how awesome this idea is. How this would help Versace as a brand. As a REAL WOMAN, I was soooo annoyed when I read this. Unfortunately I won't be camped outside of some H&M eagerly waiting for the doors to open on Nov 19th. I guess I'll just save on great fashion from another designer(Kanye Shrugg). Enjoy the rest of your Thursday Budgetnistas!

Good Morning my Budgetnistas! A great way to save on fashion is at Sample Sales. Each week thanks to sites like Sample Sale Stakeout, I know which sales to get ready for each week. To avoid that from happening, I only bring cash and ONLY the amount I plan on spending that day...Make sure that you layer just in case you have to try stuff on. Try your luck at sample sale. Recurring Trend: Flared Denim

11.02.2011
Happy Wednesday my Budgetnistas! As we all may know, fashion trends are like a revolving door. Fashion is recurring and usually repeats itself. For instance, Flare Denim. The 70's inspired trend came when not just fashion but life was a lil more care free. Trends from that decade particularly were effortlessly stylish. If you're a lil bottom heavy like myself, try pairing your flare jeans with a well tailored blazer, fitted blouse, turtleneck or tank. This would be the best way to excentuate your assets while giving this trend a modern twist since flare brings attention to your bottom half. My petite budgetnistas can also take advantage of this trend, by wearing a great pair of heels and also wearing a fitted top. When you're completely comfortable with this trend, take a trip back in time! Since everything 70’s inspired is so easy breezy, One day try pairing your flare denim with anything you’d like! Anything goes!! I love that this trend is sooo versatile.... be conservative, earthy, flirty, excited, flashy, splashy and most importantly COMFORTABLE…. Everyone should have a pair of flare jeans in the closets this season (or forever in my opinion). They’re very flattering and can be paired with anything! Before you over spend on this trend, check out these budgetworthy options

10.28.2011
So Halloween is on Monday and you still haven't decided what you're going to be? Do you even feel like dressing in costume this year? If not, I found these great Do It Yourself (DIY) projects on Glitter n' Glue. These are for the Budgetnistas that are looking to add a little Halloween Glam to their wardrobe, whether it be for the holiday or all year round . The Alexander McQueen inspired skeleton bones top and Christian Louboutin sling back shoe DIYs will take less than a day to re-create and save you tons of time! I view my favorite DIY blogs daily for inspiration. Why buy what we can make? I hope everyone enjoys the rest of this beautiful Friday. Let us remain Frugally Fab!  Check out both of these Halloween DIY Projects here
Ps... Just wanted to say how happy I am that The Today show featured some of the DIY blogs I frequent for DIY Style Week. With the economy the way it is, I'm happy that Budgetnistas now have a voice. Bargain Hunting and re-creating pieces in my wardrobe started out of necesity and 7 years later it's something that I thoroughly enjoy and I can't love fashion as much as I do without. A Pair and a Spare, PS I MADE THIS, Glitter n Glue were a few of the DIY bloggers that were feature. HONESTLY, WHY BUY WHAT WE CAN MAKE?

Fashion Favorite: Grace Jones

10.27.2011
I was about 4 or 5 yrs old when I saw her for the first time.... She looked like no other woman I'd seen before yet she was strikingly beautiful. Grace Jones became one of my favorite fashion icons from that very second! She wore what she wanted, when she wanted, sometimes wearing nothing at all and remained fashionable. Grace Jones took risks and no matter what anyone said, she kept taking them. She reminded women that we can be uber strong and sexy at the same time. She was comfortable in her own skin! It's so weird how you get someone's message without a word being spoken.... Beauty isn't the length of your hair, dress size, body type and it can't be applied with a ton of make-up. It's how you feel..... We are as beautiful as WE feel we are. If your not comfortable in your own skin, how can you truly be comfortable in that versace attire? Just some food for thought... Gotta love Grace Jones! Check her out in the pics above. Enjoy the rest of this BEAUTIFUL Thursday

Trending Without Overspending: Code Red

10.26.2011
How about we all remain "Red Hot" while the weather is cooling down! Red is a fashion trend that's not only appearing on most designers runways during the recent and upcoming fashion weeks but will also be seen on the street a lot during the fall and winter months. This trend is going to be fun for the more " Bold Budgetnista". The color red screams Strength, Excitement, and it Demands a second, third and forth look. You get an idea or a sense of character of the woman wearing an all red ensemble. She is usually fearless, confident and self assured. If you feel like wearing accessories along with red, I suggest gold. You can't go wrong with this pairing. Believe it or not, animal prints also pair really well with a red hot look. For those that don't feel completely comfortable stepping out in all red just yet, take baby steps. Start with one garment or accessory. Remember how every you decide to embrace this trend, make sure you're comfortable. Comfortability is KEY! Code Red is not for the faint at heart and you can not be nervous while making a statement. Make sure you enjoy this trend

Saving Money: Learn How To Knit

Picture
My First Knitting Project!!!
10.25.2011
Good Morning my "Budgetnistas"! With the weather getting a little chilly here in New York a scarves, sweaters, hates and gloves will  definitely needed soon. Unfortunately, when my grandmother was giving me a knitting/ crocheting lesson, I was preoccupied with her amazing shoe collection lol (I was 7, did she really expect me to pay attention?) Fast forward 20 years later, I want to start making my own knit wear and I don't know how... I checked local craft stores and their classes were around $30. I wasn't willing to pay that much. I went to Jo-Anne's and bought my first ball of yarn and knitting needles for $6... I went home and immediately went on YouTube. They had so many amazing knitting tutorials for different stitches and levels. Most of what we buy, we can make ourselves Budgetnistas! Knitting is therapeutic and another way to save money. Don't stop at outer knitwear, start making dresses, tops and bottoms when your comfortable. Practice makes perfect!  Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday :-)) Check out the scarf I'm knitting in the pic above and some of my favorite knitting tutorials from here

Trending Without Overspending: Leopard

10.05.2011
Even though I'm featuring it as a Fall Fashion trend, Leopard Print in my opinion is timeless. I wear it all year round and have been kinda obsessed with it for a few years! I love how you can dress it up or down. and pair it with any color. There's just something about leopard print that makes me feel sexy, powerful, determined and confident. The key to pulling off a leopard print outfit is that you must wear it and not have it wear you! Be prepared to receive more than a few looks (believe me, even my leopard print scarf gets a second glance). Too much Leopard Print can look a bit tacky, so wear it in moderation. If you haven't worn leopard yet, I'll advise you to take baby steps like I do for most trends. Start off with a splash of it with a leopard print scarf, shoes, tights or leggings. After you've had a taste of this trend, it'll be hard to shake. Upgrade to a dress, jumpsuit, trousers, blazer, blouse, tank or top. When you're a leopard print "pro", incorporate different color schemes and textures. Fashion should be fun. Do what makes YOU happy! Enjoy this trend and remember it's reoccurring and timeless, so if you choose to splurge on a leopard print piece from one of your favorite designers, it's something you'll be wearing for years. Fly DIY: Kanye's Ombre Shirt via I Spy DIY

Picture
10.02.2011
I was obsessed with this Ombre Denim shirt the second Kanye West stepped on stage at this years MTV Video Music awards. This shirt is so simple but I needed it in my closet! Knowing I'm not paying more than $30 for a denim shirt, I immediately made the DIY decision. I was determined to make changes to a denim garment that I already have that needs a make over. But how would I go about it? Luckily I didn't have to scour the web for too long. One of my favorite Do It Yourself blogs, I SPY DIY had already completed the project. Click here to find out how to make this Ombre inspired shirt.

Kanye West's DW Line Is Finally Revealed

Picture
photos via stylecaster.com and fashionbombdaily.com
10.01.2011
It has arrived!!!! The highly anticipated Spring 2012 collection from Mr. Kanye West debuted today Oct. 1st at Paris Fashion Week. There's been so much buzz about the line that I decided, even if it's not Budget Worthy, I'll still feature it. Come on, It's Kanye freakin West lol. It's said that Mr. West received  help from some of london's most prominent design students  and some of his favorite designers but the vision and concept were his. The  "ready to wear" collection was edgy, sexy, modern and bold. There were many different textures including knits, furs, leathers and "to die for" fabrics. This collection isn't for a timid or unsure woman. The woman who'd be most comfortable in DW is confident, self assured and bold. She's expecting all eyes to be on her and she's absolutely okay with that! Hey this sounds a lot like me lol.  DW isn't your typical "celebrity designer" collection. Kanye has frequented runway shows for years and also interned for some of the top designers including Fendi. Like most "Luxury" brands, I hear Kanye's DW line prices will be astronomical to say the least. Even if I have to save for a year, I'll make sure to purchase a piece from this line! Kudos to Kanye :-)

Trending Without Overspending: Polka Dots

09.12.2011
The Polka Dot trend will be spotted everywhere this fall (no pun intended lol). I love polka dots because they can be dressed up or down and you could pair them with almost anything. You can chose to go for a more modest look (smaller dots) or be a little bold. Honestly, what good is a trend if it's not versatile?  For those that are a little hesitant about stepping out in polka dots, try a dress or top in a classic black and white. This is always the most comfortable for first timers of the trend. If you're too comfy, add a splash of color with accessories or your shoe choice. If you're a "free spirited fashionista", pair polka dots with stripes. This combination is lethal, in a good way! I've tried it and LOVE it. Remember, fashion is supposed to be fun. Enjoy this trend and save while doing so! Check out this trend's budget worthy options

Spring & Summer Trend: White

White, while being very crisp and clean can also be seen your blank canvas for fashion. It can be used as the color to give your once “blah” getup the “pick me up” it desperately needed… The little white dress is just as sexy and flirty in warmer weather as it’s winter counterpart known as the little black dress. As minimal as white is, it only takes a hint of it to clean up your look. In my opinion, if you’re wearing a white dress, jumper or romper, you have permission to accessorize as much as you want! White blazers, cardigans, cropped tops, jeans, trousers, shorts and skirts… Overload on white this season!

Spring/ Summer Trends Floral

I’ve always loved floral prints… and it doesn’t matter how large or small the flowers are, it just rocks! In pastels, bold or more earth tone colors, floral pieces work well with everything. I’m ac6tually on the look out for an affordable floral blazer! One thing to remember is you don’t have to accessorize while wearing floral prints but if you insist on doing so, gold, silver and natural accessories will do. Just please make sure the accessories aren’t colored….. That would just look tacky!  Trust Me

  Spring/ Summer Trends                       Tribal

Any color tribal print will do the trick…. What’s so exciting about tribal print, is that it can be worn for any occasion. Depending on the size of the print will determine the look you’re trying to pull off. For a more subtle and sophisticated look, the print would be smaller. To be a little more daring, the print would be larger and the colors bold. This is a look every woman should try before the summer  is over! I totally feel like anyone can pull Tribal off... Just Go For It! This is a trend you won't regret trying!
